UNITED NATIONS COMMISSION ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN

 

Armed conflicts, political instability, persecution, and natural disasters have forced millions of people to flee their homes in search of safety. Among those affected, women and girls often face unique challenges that make displacement particularly difficult and dangerous.

 

Displaced women and girls are at a heightened risk of gender-based violence, exploitation, human trafficking, limited access to healthcare, disrupted education, and economic insecurity. These challenges have been evident in major refugee crises, including those arising from the conflicts in Ukraine and Sudan, the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, and displacement across regions such as the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa.

 

The United Nations Commission on the Status of Women plays a key role in promoting gender equality and advancing the rights of women worldwide. Under this agenda, delegates will examine the specific impacts of forced displacement on women and girls, assess existing international responses, and discuss measures to improve protection, access to opportunities, and long-term support for displaced populations.

 

Through constructive dialogue and policy-oriented solutions, delegates will work towards ensuring that humanitarian responses adequately address the needs and rights of women and girls affected by refugee crises.
